Library
Our library is at the heart of Emerald Secondary College. Located in the centre of the school, it is also a space that welcomes all students.
With a large number of quiet independent reading and study nooks, the library is able to provide students with both the opportunity to indulge in some books, puzzles or study as well as utilise the games and larger conversation circles to socialise.
We value the voice of our students in the selection of resources, and engage them in the development of displays throughout the library space. While we promote the importance of reading for pleasure, it is also important that our students feel as though they have a friendly, safe space to visit throughout the school day.
There is always something to do in the library – contribute to the displays, participate in an event, join a club, play a game, work on the puzzle, read – and we warmly invite all students to use the space in the way that works best for them.
Our Library is open during the following times:
- Monday – Thursday: 8.30am-4.30pm
- Friday: 8.30am – 4pm
- Lunch and recess every day
We offer many services through our library including:
- Photocopying, printing & scanning
- Laptop loans & book borrowing
- Book requests
- Quiet study space
- Board games and card games (for use at lunch)
- Book club
