Marrung
Marrung is the Wemba Wemba word for the Murray Cypress pine tree, which represents the branches of education and knowledge. As part of our commitment to ensuring that every student has an opportunity to learn, Emerald Secondary College supports the Marrung education plan, working to ensure that all Koorie students have access to, and support for, their learning aspirations and connections to culture.
Opportunities for Marrung students at ESC include regular updates of external learning activities, participating in yarning circles with our KESO, support to attend cultural excursions and a number of safe spaces within the college to share and explore their own connections to culture and Country.
The Marrung team work collaboratively with other staff to help promote and incorporate inclusive learning and build an environment of cultural safety for all of our students.
