Rock Eisteddfod
The Rock Eisteddfod Challenge is a unique and exciting opportunity to take part in a dance, drama and design spectacular where the students are the stars. Emerald Secondary College takes part in the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge every second year, and has been extremely successful in recent times placing in, and then winning, the Open Division in 2003 and 2005 respectively, and placing in the Premier Division in 2007.
Emerald Secondary College fields a team of approximately 100 on-stage performers,
20 back stage crew, 15-20 hair & make-up crew plus additional crew in
the form of lighting technicians, co-hosts and staff supervisors.
Unlike in other schools, our students are almost entirely responsible for
the performance. They select the theme and the music, and they design the
costumes, hair, make-up, sets and choreography, all, of course, with the
guidance and assistance of staff.
The Rock Eisteddfod Challenge provides a unique opportunity for students
from all year levels to interact and socialize with students outside their
normal social network, helping to provide a positive and cohesive feel throughout
the student body of the College.
